Managing Stress: What’s Happening
Everyone has stress, whether it’s a bad day at work, car trouble, or simply too many things to do. However, too much stress can make it hard to parent effectively. After a while, your children may show signs of being stressed out, too!
What You Might Be Seeing
Some signs that you are stressed include:
Feeling angry or irritable a lot of the time
Having trouble making decisions
Worrying all the time
Arguing with friends or your partner
Overeating or not eating enough
Being unable to sleep or wanting to sleep all the time
A build-up of stress also can contribute to health problems, including allergies, a sore neck or back, headaches, upset stomach, and high blood pressure.
What You Can Do
It is important to learn how to manage your stress—for your own sake and for your children. The following suggestions may help:
Remember: Learning to manage your stress will improve your happiness and show your children that they can handle stress, too!
New abuse prevention
April is the National Child Abuse Prevention Month. It is a time to recognize that we all play an important role in protecting our children and young people. Each year, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles publishes the Working Together to Prevent Child Sexual Abuse brochure, which provides a listing of policies, programs, resources, and other information on how the Catholic Church is working to help prevent child sexual abuse. Copies of the 2017 brochure are available in the church office, by the church doors, and the school office.

We, the People of God, under the patronage of Maria Regina, Queen of Heaven and Earth, are called to be disciples of Jesus Christ in this time and in this place. As members of the Body of Christ we gather to worship at the Altar of the Lord in Word and Eucharist, in which we are nourished. From here we go forth as disciples in the power of the Holy Spirit to make the Good News of Jesus Christ alive in our world.
